BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 25-year-old motorcyclist from Bakersfield died after a solo-vehicle crash in Kernville Sunday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol said on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at around 2 p.m., officers responded to Sierra Way at Cyrus Canyon Road in Kernville for a report of a solo-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
CHP said a preliminary investigation found a 25-year-old man was riding a 2018 BMW motorcycle southbound on Sierra Way, south of Cyrus Canyon Road, at an undetermined rate of speed.
For reasons still under investigation, the rider was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The BMW traveled off the roadway in a southeasterly direction, colliding with an edge marker and a dirt embankment.
As a result, the 25-year-old male was ejected from the motorcycle. Following the crash, the rider sustained severe injuries and was taken to Kern Valley Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as 25-year-old Nadeem Samaan of Bakersfield.
CHP said at this time, it is unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.
