Authorities have publicly identified a man who was killed over the weekend in a hit-and-run crash in San Marcos.
Carey Faust, 62, was standing behind his parked vehicle on North Pacific Street near Descanso Avenue when a white 2022 Hyundai Venue struck him about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office. Faust died at the scene. His city of residence was not released.
Following the deadly impact, the motorist got out of the SUV and ran away north toward Mission Avenue, said sheriff’s Sgt. Jeremy Collis.
Officials have not released a description of the suspect.
