FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Chaos and destruction continues to cause fear and uncertainty among people with ties to Mexico.
The turmoil follows a Mexican army operation that led to the capture and death of the Jalisco cartel chief ‘El Mencho’.

“I’m worried because of what is happening, I am worried because we don’t know what can happen.. I mean they are mad, they are out of themselves and they can do whatever, they have guns and they can just do whatever they want,” says Laura Martinez, who manages Alba Travel in Downtown Fresno.
She’s from Jalisco, where people are sheltering in place, staying home from school and creating single file lines at pharmacies and grocery stores to stock up on the necessities.
Meanwhile at the office, the phone has been ringing non-stop, with worried customers, who are stuck in Mexico.
“It seems like the roads are clean right now but the problem is no one wants to go out so they don’t have a way to go to the airport and the transportation is not 100% back in,” explains Laura.

At Fresno Yosemite International Airport there has been uncertainty with recent flight cancellations to and from Guadalajara.
And, since it’s unclear when the unrest will end, the travel agency says they could see the impacts of fewer travelers in coming weeks.
“Now I am going to think about it before going. Because it’s a risk, right now it’s a risk,” expresses Laura.
The travel agency says airlines have been cooperating with travelers.
If you have an upcoming trip the best thing to do is stay informed and remain in close contact with those living in the area you plan to visit.
