Officials said that Javier Arizmendi met the 10-year-old boy while playing on Xbox Live and began giving the child things on the console that cost money.

He began sending the boy sexual messages, making plans to have the boy join him in Los Angeles for sexual relations.

The DA’s office found that Arizmendi drove to Sacramento, picked up the boy and drove back to Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, the victim became upset when Arizmendi touched him, resulting in the defendant driving the boy back to Sacramento.

The defendant told detectives that he had intentions of engaging in a sexual relationship with the victim in Los Angeles.

On Dec. 10, 2025, Arizmendi was convicted of:

Two counts of lewd act upon a child

Kidnapping for child molest

Contacting a minor with intent to commit kidnapping

Sex assault or other specified offenses

Arranging to meet with a minor for lewd purposes

He was sentenced to 54 years in prison with the eligibility of parole after serving 20 years.
