Next door to Bethel A.M.E. Church in Manchester Square, the wrapping is off for a new affordable housing complex from RMG Housing.

Located on what was previously a church parking lot at 7924 S. Western Avenue, the project consists of a five-story building that will feature 53 residential units on its upper floors when complete.

At the time of the project’s groundbreaking, it was announced that it would consist almost entirely of one-bedroom units, and include on-site supportive services for residents.

The project was financed by multiple sources, including $11.3 million from SDS Capital Group’s supportive housing fund.

The project is a familiar strategy for RMG, which has a habit of building on church properties. RMG is also behind a 47-unit supportive housing on the site of Southside Bethel Baptist Church at 10400 San Pedro Street.
