BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – Nekole Predium, the Executive Director of Equal Steps Veterans Home, is facing two felony counts of issuing worthless checks out of Slidell.
The fraudulent checks total nearly 25,000 dollars overall according to records WLOX obtained from the Slidell Police Department.
We’ve learned those charges were filed by a financial institution inside a Slidell Walmart. This story all began to unravel Saturday when Predium was arrested in Long Beach for felony bad check charges.
That was the same day we learned the care facility she runs had announced it would be abruptly closing, giving the 16 residents who lived there only two days to find a new home.
Since then, the residents have all been removed from the facility and taken to various hospitals until they’re able to find more permanent living arrangements.
Documents from the city of long beach also show the facility did not have a license from the state to operate as a care home.
In addition, Harrison County court records show Predium owes more than $164,000 thousand to other businesses.
According to the Harrison County jail docket, where she is being held, Predium has waived extradition to Slidell.
