The San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition will offer free and low-cost spay or neuter surgeries on Wednesday as part of Spay/Neuter Awareness Month.
The event is being held from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the San Diego Humane Society’s office at 5500 Gaines St. “to address community need and prevent unwanted litters,” SDHS said.
Procedures will be conducted by both the San Diego Humane Society and county Department of Animal Services. Appointments can be made here.
SDHS received a $10,000 donation to provide 50 appointments free of charge to families earning less than $100,000 a year. Once those spots are full, appointments will be offered at a lowered cost, SDHS said.
“Additional services may have separate costs,” according to SDHS, which added that licenses and rabies vaccinations are required for dogs in participating jurisdictions.
Other SDAWC organizations participating in Spay Neuter Awareness Month are Chula Vista Animal Services, Frosted Faces Foundation, PAWS of Coronado, Rancho Coastal Humane Society and Riverside County Department of Animal Services.
