A Sacramento man was killed Tuesday when his motorcycle crashed at in intersection in American Canyon in Napa County, police said.
The man, 34, was riding a Ducati motorcycle in the intersection of Elliot Drive and Capra Drive about 11 a.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle as he navigated a turn, according to an American Canyon Police Department news release. The motorcycle crashed into a parked trailer.
Emergency responders took the man to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, where he later died, said police. Napa County coroner’s officials will release the man’s identity once family are notified.
Napa County sheriff’s investigators and the Napa Police Department were called to assist American Canyon police in the investigation. Excessive speed did not factor in the collision, and the rider was not believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time, said police. The case remains under investigation.
American Canyon police said the rider was not licensed to operate the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal collision.
