LOS ANGELES, CA — Crunching traffic volume and crash data, a new report from the Los Angeles Times ranked the 14 worst intersections in the Los Angeles area — and two of them are on Pacific Coast Highway.

The Times analyzed city data on traffic volumes and crashes to come up with its list and consulted a traffic engineering expert from USC for analysis.

Two of the Times’ 14 worst intersections were on Pacific Coast Highway:

Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard (No. 7)

This Pacific Palisades intersection had the 12th-highest traffic volume of any intersection analyzed by the Times. There have been 336 collisions there since 2010.

“Aside from joining two iconic roadways, this intersection is also home to a world-famous surf break, which brings a parking fiasco into the fray,” the Times wrote.

Pacific Coast Highway and Channel/Chautauqua (No. 14)

This intersection had the eighth-highest traffic volume. There have been 52 collisions since 2010.

“The intersection has long been known for its congestion. It was an early beach-side business district with popular shops. Some of those buildings still stand today,” the Times wrote.
