OAKLAND — A 61-year-old man who had just left an East Oakland store was shot Wednesday night, authorities said.

The man, an Oakland resident, was in stable condition at a hospital where he is being treated for a wound to his foot, authorities said.

The shooting, which caused an activation of a gunshot detection system, happened about 10:47 p.m. Wednesday in the 7000 block of International Boulevard.

The man told police he had just left a store in the area and was walking to his vehicle when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot.  He was able to drive himself to a hospital.

According to initial reports,  the shots were apparently fired during a dispute between some other people in the area.  More than 10 shots were fired and police believe at this time the 61-year-old man was not an intended target.

No other injuries were reported.

What the dispute involving the other people was about is not known.  No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the shooting may call investigators at 510-238-3426.
