Details are still in the works, but Oakland is planning a celebration for hometown hero and Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu.

“Alysa represents the heart, grit, resilience, and joy of Oakland,” the city wrote in a social media post Tuesday. “Her achievement has filled our city with pride, and we are coordinating with her team now to finalize a date so the community can celebrate her together.”

The city said specific details on the community-wide celebration will be coming soon.

Liu captured two gold medals at the recent Milan Cortina Olympics – one in the women’s singles figure skating event and the other in the mixed team figure skating event.
