ABC10’s newsroom is proudly named the Dick Cable Newsroom in his honor.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Longtime ABC10 Anchor Dick Cable has passed away.
Over nearly three decades, Cable stayed with viewers when it mattered most.
“It is with great sadness that l learned tonight former KXTV anchor Dick Cable died today,” wrote former ABC10 Reporter Dan Adams on social media. “I worked with Dick for 28 years. He was so kind, professional, dedicated, observant, and had a quick wit.”
After 29 years at the station, Cable retired from News10, but his work in Sacramento did not stop.
“In 1991, he was honored as a Silver Circle recipient by the Northern California Emmy Chapter, recognizing his lasting contribution to our industry,” wrote ABC10 President & General Manager Risa Omega.
Although retired, the Child Abuse Prevention Council named the Dick Cable Boardroom in his honor. He was recognized at Safetyville during Sacramento Salutes and named honorary mayor. Governor Wilson declared “Dick Cable Day” in California.
“Thirty years at the same station, that is really some kind of staying power, and it’s a testament to your work in Sacramento,” said Alan Frio, a former anchor at ABC10, at the time.
ABC10’s newsroom is proudly named the Dick Cable Newsroom in his honor.
“Dick leaves a legacy in this building and in this town,” wrote Omega.
This is a developing story. Stay with ABC10 for updates.
