OAKLAND, CA — Authorities say three young women who were reported missing out of the East Bay were likely the victims of human trafficking at the hands of a trucker, according to a report by KTVU.
Two of the women were in their teens when they were reported missing, while the other was 20, according to the report.
They all went missing during separate instances — months or even years apart, in Oakland. But the FBI told the women’s families on Tuesday that the cases appear to be linked to each other.
The FBI is still investigating leads. But after one of the women’s bodies was found in Siskiyou County, they believe a trucker could be responsible, according to the report.
“Someone would have to have a reason to be in both of those places,” FBI Special Agent Marty Parker told KTVU. “Not many people have a reason to be in both Oakland and the middle of Siskiyou County except for someone traveling through to Oregon, like a trucker.”
