BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County Catholics came together for a morning of faith and community Wednesday.

The Kern Catholic Prayer Breakfast began with a mass at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in downtown Bakersfield.

Attendees prayed the rosary with Bishop Joseph Brennan.

It was followed by breakfast and a keynote address delivered by Father Mike Schmitz, an author, podcaster and a regular on the faith-based app called “Hallow.”

“It’s about unity, it’s about coming together and praying together to have that feeling of fellowship and just a sense of unity that we’re not in the world alone and God is with us,” said Marcie Soper, chair of Kern Catholic Prayer Breakfast.

The theme of this year’s talk was “Cultivate a Garden in your Soul.”
