February is coming to a close. You can end the month with a number of events going on around town.

FRIDAY –

The OCEANSIDE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is happening all weekend long.

Here’s a musical that looks fun: BEETLEJUICE THE MUSICAL. THE MUSICAL. THE MUSICAL. It’s at the Civic Theatre DOWNTOWN, all weekend long.

And from Tim Burton silliness to classical music. The SAN DIEGO SYMPHONY will be performing a “Brahms Festival – A German Requiem” at the Jacobs Music Center DOWNTOWN.

The roots-raggae band THE ELOVATERS will be at the Sound in DEL MAR.

OZOMATLI will be at the Music Box DOWNTOWN.

With the Olympics over, you might be jonesing for some sports. You can catch the live action as the SAN DIEGO SOCKERS play Tacoma in OCEANSIDE at Frontwave Arena.

SATURDAY –

The AZTECS are in New Mexico, but if you want to listen to the game, tune in to San Diego Sports 760 starting at 10 a.m.

This is the 43rd year for the SAN DIEGO CHINESE NEW YEAR FAIR at the Chinese Historical Society and Museum DOWNTOWN.

BIRTHDAY FEST at the San Diego Museum of Art celebrates 100 years of art with free admission, family-friendly performances, and hands-on art activities all day in BALBOA PARK.

If you’re a fan of ‘80s music, you surely remember the song “Tell It to My Heart.” That singer, Taylor Dayne, will be at Viejas Casino in ALPINE.

SUNDAY –

San Diego FC are in action at Snapdragon Stadium taking on St. Louis City. The action starts at 6. If you can’t get there, you can listen on San Diego Sports 760.

If you want to end your weekend with a sports fix, the defending National Lacrosse League West Conference champion SAN DIEGO SEALS have a game at Pechanga Arena.

For basketball, the USA BASKETBALL World Cup Qualifier games have USA facing Mexico, at Frontwave Arena in OCEANSIDE. The crowd probably won’t be as rowdy as it would be if this were a soccer game.

Women’s volleyball is also happening with the Columbus Fury in town to play the SAN DIEGO MOJO at Viejas Arena.

ON STREAMING…

Zach Braff and Donald Faison are back in their early 2000s hospital comedy SCRUBS airing on ABC then streaming on Hulu.

Sterling K Brown (This is Us) returns in season 2 of PARADISE exploring the world above ground in this post-apocalyptic thriller on Hulu.

BRIDGERTON Season 4 Part 2 is out on Netflix with the final 4 episodes of the 8-episode season.

PAUL McCARTNEY: Man on the Run, is a documentary about his post-Beatles career forming Wings available on Amazon Prime Video.

AT THE MOVIES –

SCREAM 7. They didn’t screen this for the critics, so I can’t tell you how it is. But if you like those horror films, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

EPIC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT. This was another movie they didn’t screen for us, and I was bummed about that. I’m an Elvis fan, and seeing what Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, Elvis, The Great Gatsby) did with Elvis concert footage he found and put together, sounds like a fun time.

PSYCHO KILLER. This is the third movie coming out this weekend that wasn’t screened for critics. Love the Talking Heads song, not sure I’d like this. Of the critics that did see it, they’re only giving it 10% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s a horror movie that somehow got Malcolm McDowell to be in it.
