ORANGE COUNTY, CA — One local family is honoring the memory of an Orange County teen years after his sudden 2018 passing.

Eighteen-year-old Logan Hall was a senior at Capistrano Valley Christian High School with dreams of taking his love for baseball to a college team.

A notable left-handed pitcher, Logan had just pitched “the game of his life” a week before his passing in 2018 due to an undetectable heart condition, Suzette Hall — Logan’s mom — told Patch.

“I can still see him out there on that mound — strong, focused, doing what he loved most,” Suzette said. “But Logan was so much more than baseball.”

She described Logan as an “underdog,” someone who was “always standing up for the one who needed it most.”

To celebrate his memory, Suzette and her husband, Brian, host a heart screening with Heartfelt every year near the anniversary of Logan’s passing.

“Losing Logan shattered our world. We live every day with that loss,” Suzette said. “If sharing his story prevents even one family from feeling this pain, then his life continues to matter in the most powerful way.”

But for Suzette, efforts don’t stop at heart screenings.

She currently runs a rescue nonprofit called Logan’s Legacy 29, in which she spends her days rescuing abandoned dogs off the street in her son’s memory.

“[We rescue] the forgotten ones, the broken ones, the ones who need someone to fight for them,” she said. “Just like Logan always would have.”

“Logan may not be here physically anymore… but he is absolutely still changing lives. Through every dog we rescue. Through every heart we screen. Through every life saved in his memory,” she said.

“And I know that would make him so happy.”

Orange County residents interested in scheduling a heart screening can do so by visiting Heartfelt’s website.

The screenings take place on March 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hills Church 26062 Merit Circle, Laguna Hills.
