BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police said one man was killed and two others were injured in three related shooting incidents on February 18, stemming from an illegal narcotics transaction. No arrests have been made.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, at around 11:11 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 6300 block of Chester W. Nimitz Street. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man, identified as 40-year-old Francisco Camacho, died.

Police said shortly after, at 11:26 a.m., officers were called to the 800 block of Hosking Avenue regarding a second assault involving a gun. Officers found a man with moderate injuries from gunshot wounds.

Then, at around 11:38 a.m., officers responded to the 4100 block of Pioneer Drive for the report of an assault with a deadly weapon involving a gun. A victim, identified as a man, was found, also suffering from gunshot wounds with moderate injuries.

Police said further investigation revealed all three shootings that morning stemmed from an illegal narcotics transaction taking place in the 6300 block of Chester W. Nimitz Street.
According to Bakersfield police, the individuals from both sides of the illegal transaction were believed to be armed.
The homicide victim, 39-year-old Joel Camacho, and the additional surviving victims were all involved in the illegal transaction.
The shooting victim, who was located outside of Golden Valley High School, was taken to that location after being shot on Chester W. Nimitz Street.
The investigation is ongoing.
No arrests have been made at this time.
