Federal immigration agents could arrive in San Francisco as soon as today, after ICE raids in New York City and Chicago and an altercation in L.A. earlier this week. The Trump administration has promised “no safe haven.”
Immigration raids: ICE agents yesterday targeted Chicago’s Little Village, a mostly Mexican neighborhood, while officials vowed to step up raids in New York City. President Trump said they’re catching “the worst of the worst.” Advocates say they’re terrorizing innocent people. [USA Today/The Hill]
Natl. Guard deployment: A federal judge indefinitely blocked Trump from sending troops to Chicago, barring Supreme Court intervention. Meanwhile, ongoing legal battles are challenging National Guard deployment in other states, where it’s responded to ICE protests. [AP/USA Today]
