Singer d4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, has been named as a “target” in a Los Angeles murder investigation connected to the death and dismemberment of a 14-year-old girl, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

The victim, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, was found in September 2025 inside a black Tesla registered to Burke. The vehicle had been towed to a Los Angeles police impound yard after being discovered abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.

According to court filings, investigators detected a strong odor coming from the vehicle’s front trunk. Inside, they reportedly found a cadaver bag containing decomposed human remains. Additional documents state that body parts were discovered in a second bag beneath the first. The Los Angeles County medical examiner later processed the remains, though official records have since been sealed.

Court papers filed in Texas indicate that multiple members of Burke’s family have been ordered to appear before a Los Angeles grand jury. A Texas judge approved the request.

Burke has not been formally charged at this time. His attorney declined to comment when contacted by CNN, and representatives for his management company did not respond to inquiries.

The 20-year-old singer rose to prominence in 2022 through social media platforms and later gained mainstream attention with songs including “Romantic Homicide.” Following the discovery of the victim’s remains last year, several tour dates were canceled.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details.
