The San Diego State and UC San Diego women’s basketball teams have slightly different priorities Saturday as they approach the ends of the regular season.
The Aztecs (23-4) have already clinched the Mountain West regular-season championship as they host Wyoming in their final home game at Viejas Arena at 1 this afternoon. With only a road game at Air Force Tuesday remaining on the schedule before the conference tournament, the Aztecs could give their reserves more playing time over the final two games.
“Depth has been our secret weapon all year,” coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said.
Meanwhile, the Tritons (19-8, 14-3) are in second place in the Big West Conference with three games to go in the regular season, starting with an afternoon game at Cal Poly.
The Big West’s top two finishers earn a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
