If you’ve been downtown lately, you may have noticed movement at the dirt lot next to the Billy Jean King Library.
Next month, the pit that used to be Long Beach’s old City Hall will host a Japanese skateboarding game show called KASSO. It’s over the top. Watch an episode here.
One of the show’s producers called the lot “strange in the best way” because of its uneven levels, wild overgrowth and old foundations.
They chose to host the show in Long Beach after a regional search that included Santa Monica, Venice Beach and downtown Los Angeles.
We broke down the setup and plans for the event (and why the lot is still vacant) here.
