BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 31-year-old man faces multiple life sentences after he was convicted of sexually abusing an underage girl over the course of many years, starting when she was seven years old, announced the Kern County District Attorney on Friday.

Carlos Robles was convicted on Feb. 24, 2026, on multiple felony charges, including:

Sexual intercourse, oral copulation, and sexual penetration of a child 10 years or youngerAggravated sexual assault of a minor by forceExhibiting harmful matter to a minorCriminal threatsLewd touching of a childContinuous sexual abuse of a child

Five of the aforementioned charges carry possible life prison sentences.

On June 14, 2021, the victim reported that Robles had been sexually abusing her for several years, starting when she was seven years old, said the DA. She said that Robles had threatened to kill her if she reported the abuse. Robles isolated the victim from other children to ensure that she had no opportunity to report the sexual abuse and prolong it.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office and the Kern Regional Crime Lab provided physical evidence that matched the victim’s allegations, including DNA evidence that linked Robles to the crimes.

“Robles preyed on a child, isolated her, and used threats of violence to conceal and perpetuate years of abuse,” commented Cynthia Zimmer, Kern County DA. “His actions were predatory, calculated, and cruel, and he has more than earned the multiple life prison sentences he is sure to receive.”
