BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police said that a driver was pinned in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in east Bakersfield and subsequently suffered a medical emergency, leading to hospitalization.

On Oct. 9, officers responded to the 900 block of Espee Street for an injury crash involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, they found the vehicles disabled on the road, with one driver trapped inside.

Bakersfield City Fire personnel extracted the driver, who then experienced a medical emergency and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

The other driver was uninjured and cooperated with investigators. The cause of the crash is under investigation, but drugs, alcohol, and speed are not believed to be factors, according to the California Highway Patrol.
