Law enforcement agencies across Southern California say they are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East following escalating military action involving the United States and Iran, while emphasizing there are no known credible threats to local communities.

The heightened vigilance comes after major U.S. and Israeli strikes in Iran Saturday, including an attack that President Donald Trump said killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reporting by the Associated Press, raising concerns about regional instability and potential global repercussions.

Increased patrols across Southern California

The Beverly Hills Police Department issued a community safety notice saying officials are tracking the evolving situation overseas and will continue working to ensure public safety.

“As the situation in Iran continues to develop, the Beverly Hills Police Department is monitoring the latest information and will continue to ensure the safety of its residents, businesses, and visitors,” the department said in a social media statement.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said it is coordinating with federal, state and local law enforcement partners while assessing any potential impacts locally.

Officials said patrols have been increased around places of worship, cultural institutions and other prominent locations throughout the county “out of an abundance of caution,” particularly during current religious observances.

“At this time, there are no known credible threats to our community,” LASD said, adding that deployment plans have been reviewed and additional resources are available if needed.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department released a similar statement, saying it also remains in communication with partner agencies and has stepped up patrols countywide.

“At this time, there are no known threats to San Bernardino County,” officials said. “Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased patrols around places of worship, cultural centers, and other key locations.”

Authorities also acknowledged local military families, noting many residents have loved ones serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and expressing gratitude for their service.

Officials urge vigilance, peaceful demonstrations

With protests planned across Los Angeles in response to the international conflict, law enforcement agencies emphasized that increased patrols are precautionary and intended to reassure communities.

Officials encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

“If you see something, say something,” authorities said.

Police agencies said they will continue monitoring developments and provide updates if conditions change.
