SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A woman in her 30s has died after being found severely injured inside a Colina Del Sol apartment early Saturday morning, and her boyfriend has been arrested in connection with her death, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3:50 a.m. to the 4300 block of 54th Street after a man called to report a nonresponsive woman inside the apartment.
When officers arrived, they found a Hispanic woman in her 30s suffering from apparent facial trauma. Police also reported seeing blood in several areas throughout the small apartment.

Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her identity has not been released at this time.
The individual that called police, identified as 38-year-old Jose Manuel Casteneda, was taken into custody at the scene. Police said he will be charged with murder in connection to the woman’s death.
Homicide detectives are leading the investigation, with assistance from SDPD’s Domestic Violence Unit. They are canvassing the area for possible witnesses.
