SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — A 2-year-old child was killed Friday night after being struck by a vehicle near 4th and Channel streets, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Officers responded to the area at about 8:55 p.m. for a report of a vehicle hitting two pedestrians. Investigators said an unidentified adult and child were crossing the street when they were struck.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital. The adult is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor at this time.
