A week away didn’t disrupt the Ontario Reign’s rhythm as the club extended its win streak to four games, tying a season high.

Here are the three takeaways from Sunday afternoon’s 4-2 victory:
Aatu Jamsen can’t be stopped
Nobody is lighting the lamp on the Reign the way Aatu Jamsen has lately. Recording 15 points in his last 22 games, it was Jamsen — of course it was — who opened the scoring with stellar stickhandling in close on Calvin Pickard to extend his torrid scoring stretch to 16 points in 23 games.

The 2nd-year North American pro added a secondary assist later in the game to give him his fifth multi-point game during this stretch of play. Seventh-round picks don’t generate much buzz due to their draft position, but Jamsen’s creativity stands out when you watch him play. After a rough rookie campaign last year, the 23-year-old looks comfortable adapting to the North American game, especially physically.

Jared Wright continues to make an impact
Kenny Connors has quickly caught the attention of management and fans this season, but Jared Wright has quietly done the same. Wright can impact the game in many ways, with his speed being the main component of his toolbox.
Once again, Wright impacted the game on both sides of the puck and tallied his fifth point (3 G, 2 A) in his last four games. What I liked about Wright’s goal is that he went to the net and happened to be in the (w)right place at the (w)right time.
I always knew Wright’s speed, penalty-kill game, defense, and forecheck could impact a game; however, I didn’t expect him to score more than 15 goals this season. My guess was between 10 and 15, but he has an opportunity to tack on five more to accrue a 20-goal rookie season. He’s been terrific in his bottom-six role, playing every game for the Reign.

King Koehn!
In contrast to Wright, who has played in every game, it’s been the opposite for Koehn Ziemmer. Ziemmer has gone through a different development path. Having not played in every game, getting a lot of ice time, or having a top role at five-on-five and on the power play. Lately, when in the lineup, Ziemmer has stood out, but hasn’t had the points to show for it.
A little less than a month after scoring a natural hat trick against the Bakersfield Condors, Ziemmer scored the game-winning goal on the power play early in the third period with a sling shot from the lower left circle through the legs of Pickard, catching the veteran netminder off guard.

The goal was Ziemmer’s second game-winning goal, both coming against the Condors. As the season winds down, the final 19 games will serve as an important part of Ziemmer’s development. A game like yesterday can boost his confidence.
NOTES:
*Ziemmer’s goal was his second power-play goal of the season.
*Jack Millar recorded his third point in four games.
*Cole Guttman recorded his 19th goal of the season with his empty-net tally.

*Samuel Bolduc recorded his sixth assist in his last 13 games.
*Andre Lee tallied his fifth point (3 G, 2 A) in his last three games
*Ontario went 4-for-5 on the penalty kill, killing off 19-of-22 (86.4%) power plays in the seven games against Bakersfield, which holds the league’s fifth-best power play.
*Yesterday’s game was Women in Sports Day for the Reign. I want to give a special shoutout to a special woman whom I have been blessed to call Mom over the last three years. She has encouraged me and supported me in reaching my goals daily, even in times when I doubt myself. Not only that, but also being involved in her son, who I am lucky enough to call a little brother, Xavier’s sporting events as well. You’re the best, Mom!
