TUCSON, Ariz. –  The Minnesota Golden Gophers fell 7-0 to the Long Beach State Beach Saturday afternoon at Hillenbrand Stadium.

Senior Sydney Schwartz (4-5) started in the circle and took the loss for Minnesota (7-12), allowing four runs on five hits over three innings with three strikeouts. Sophomore Macy Richardson tossed the final three frames, giving up three runs on five hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Minnesota did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Golden Gophers went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the first when senior Lucy Hooper reached scoring position with two outs.

GAME NOTES

» Minnesota pitchers faced 33 Long Beach State hitters in the game, inducing 10 groundouts and five flyouts while striking out four.

» Sophomore Jae Cosgriff led the Golden Gophers at the plate, going 1-for-2.
