Police responded to the Ranchwoods Apartments at 1190 S. Winery Ave. north of Butler Avenue after a ShotSpotter activation detected multiple gunshots around 1:20 a.m., according to Fresno police Lt. Marcus Gray II. Residents also reported numerous shots were fired, Gray added.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the upper torso. He was taken to the hospital, and was in critical condition.

Investigators learned that multiple suspects had entered the complex and fired rounds into a residence, striking the victim, Gray said. No suspect descriptions were given.
