FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A man was arrested after attempting to steal from a detached garage and escaping from the police by hiding in the attic of a home, police say.
Police responded to the reports of an attempted burglary of a detached garage in the area of South Calaveras.
When they arrived, they found a woman who was taken into custody.
However, it was discovered that there was a man still inside the garage and barricaded himself inside.
Police formed a perimeter around the garage.

The man then punched a hole in the roof of the garage and fled the perimeter to another home nearby.
He then climbed the back of the home, removed a swamp cooler, and made his way to the attic.
Officers formed another perimeter of the home and entered to take the man into custody.
The man fell from the attic when officers took him into custody.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.
Both were arrested for attempted burglary.
