FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A suspected burglar is in custody after he fell through the roof of a central Fresno home on Monday night.
Fresno Police say officers were called to a burglary in progress at a detached garage on Calaveras Street near Belmont Avenue around 5 p.m.
When officers arrived, they surrounded the garage and immediately arrested a woman.
She was taken into custody but officers later learned there was still a man inside the garage.
The man had barricaded himself in the garage and as officers surrounded him, the suspect punched through the garage’s roof and fled from officers.
Police chased the suspect until he crawled up another home, removed a swamp cooler and entered the home’s attic.
The officers then had to enter the home to try and remove the suspect. According to police, the man started throwing debris at officers and a K9 officer.
The man was then captured on camera falling through the home’s roof, where Fresno Police officers quickly detained him.
He was arrested and taken to the hospital for his injuries suffered from the fall and the K9’s bite.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and the Fresno Fire Department aided Fresno Police in the man’s arrest.
