The San José Police Department has arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of burglaries that occurred throughout downtown and east San José between August of 2024 to February of 2026.
In January of 2026, Detectives with the Financial Crimes Burglary Unit began a comprehensive investigation into numerous reported burglary incidents that occurred at five separate commercial businesses located in the 3000 block of McKee Road, 3100 block of Alum Rock Avenue, 400 block of East Julian Street, in addition to one place of worship located in the 2900 block of McKee Road.
Detectives identified approximately twenty-four (24) separate incidents believed to be associated to the suspect. The investigation revealed the adult male suspect would enter the businesses and take various items including cash, causing over $1,000.00 worth of damage to each business. During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified 36-year-old Cesar Gomez-Saucedo as the suspect responsible for the burglary spree.
In response to a rise in burglaries and vandalism in east San José, Patrol Officers began conducting proactive community policing foot patrols along McKee Road. On February 12, 2026, during these foot patrols, Officers located and apprehended Suspect Gomez-Saucedo. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for multiple crimes including burglary.
