2026 High School Gymnastics Preview

Section finals: May 22 at Rancho Bernardo High School

Defending team champion: Westview (team), Bella Paguyo, Westview (individual compulsory), Lilliana Mendoza, San Diego (individual optional)

Gymnast of the Year: Julia Quijano, Olympian (now at Cal State San Marcos)

Overview: Westview has taken the San Diego Section title each of the last four years and is looking to make it five in a row. Bella Paguyo returns after winning last year’s compulsory title; she’ll be joined by a quartet of stellar freshmen. Mt. Carmel also reloads with four quality freshmen coming off losing last season’s section meet to Westview by 0.1 point. Steele Canyon, La Costa Canyon and West Hills all return accomplished gymnasts.
