Vikings Finish 10th At Fresno State Spring Classic

Fresno, CA – Tenth-ranked Pepperdine ran away from the field at the Fresno State Spring Classic on Tuesday. The 10th-ranked Waves won the 54-hole tournament, played at Fort Washington Golf and Country Club, by 44 strokes. Portland State placed 10th out of 11 teams.
 
Pepperdine had a team score of 11-under par 290-282-281=853. Cal Poly was a distant second with a three-round total of 897. The Vikings came in at 315-310-310=935.
 
The Waves also had the top three placing golfers. Eunseo Choi won the event with a six-under par total of 69-72-69=210. Jeneath Wong shot 75-69-69=213, and Yingzhi Zhu carded 73-67-75=215.
 
Portland State was led by Cynthia Valerie Ong, who came in 29th place among 70 golfers. The Viking junior posted 78-73-80=231 over three rounds.
 
Her sister, freshman Caithlyn Ong, was in 36th place with 79-77-76=232.
 
Senior Bayler Brundage shot the best round by a Viking on Tuesday with three birdies in her three-over par 75. Brundage finished at 80-78-75=233 and placed 41st.
 
Senior Payten Shimizu was 60th, shooting 82-82-79=243, and sophomore Maddie Dustin came in with 78-86-80=244 to place 62nd.
 
Among Big Sky Conference schools competing, the Vikings trailed ninth-place Weber State (918) and beat 11th-place Idaho State (965).
