Cereal may be our morning bestie, but any devoted cerealist knows that the grains, puffs, nuggets, and crispy bits found in their favorite breakfast box can pop up at any time in the day, in literally any type of meal.
Literally and lusciously. There are savory dinners that call for coating pieces of chicken in crushed corn flakes and crunching straight from the box, at any hour, without the benefit of a bowl or spoon, is the universal stand-in-the-kitchen snack.
Cereal’s sweet cred, even among those concoctions that lean to grains and skip the miniature marshmallows, is unparalleled, which means the dessert side of the menu often features the granolas and mueslis we love.
Salt & Straw, the artisanal ice cream powerhouse, is so sensationally cereal-fied that the company devotes a full month to a special, limited-time cereal series.
That lickable line-up, dubbed Cereal-sly Delicious, is ruling the scoop shops throughout March 2026, with three creamy favorites on the return roster and two new flavors in the mix.
The MVPs making a comeback for a short spell include the marshmallow-laden Pots of Gold and Rainbows, Snap ‘N Crackle Marshmallow Treats with Rice Krispies, and Peanut Butter Brownie Cereal Puffs, which boast a Reese’s coating.
As for the duo of debuting flavors? In short, they are rocking some distinctive crunch.
The Concord Grape Nut Crumble has both yogurt swirled with grape juice and Grape Nut pudding, as well as a Grape Nut crumble. Adding even more depth and crunch to the nutty fantasia? Mmm, toasted pecans.
And crunch berries make a colorful cameo in Captain’s Berried Treasure, which also includes freeze-dried strawberries and blackberries and coconut and oat milk ice cream.
There’s a collector’s sticker for this line-up — the “first-ever” released by Salt & Straw — so be sure to ask for the souvenir when order your cereal-inspired scoop. The classic Pots of Gold and Rainbows is the sticker’s zazzy inspiration.
