LOS ANGELES, CA — A parolee and known gang member has been apprehended after pushing his pregnant teenage ex-girlfriend out of a moving car on a Los Angeles freeway last week, according to police.
The incident occurred on Feb. 24 at around 12:35 a.m., when the California Highway Patrol received a call regarding a domestic violence incident that occurred on the northbound 110 Freeway near Century Boulevard, according to the CHP.
Officers responded to a home in Los Angeles to investigate, where they interviewed a pregnant 19-year-old who had visible facial injuries from the incident, police said.
The woman told police that the incident occurred while she was driving and her ex-boyfriend was riding in the passenger seat of her car, the CHP said.
The man struck the woman and at one point attempted to forcer her out of the vehicle while it was in motion, police said.
She “ultimately drove to a relative’s house where she dialed 911 for help. The male passenger, a known gang member and parolee, fled the area prior to the officers’ arrival,” police said.
Authorities learned during their investigation that the man had removed the ankle monitor he was required to wear as a recently released felon and was subsequently deemed a fugitive, police said.
The man was apprehended with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service. He was booked on suspicion of parole violations, felony domestic violence and carjacking, according to the CHP.
Authorities have not released the man’s name.
