RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A convicted sex offender who fled to San Francisco is back in custody in Nevada.
Jonas Ortiz was arrested on Nov. 13, 2025 by US Marshals. He was wanted in Nevada for a parole violation after absconding from supervision in May of last year.
Ortiz was convicted in March of 1990 of the sexual assault of a minor under the age of 14 and first-degree kidnapping and was sentenced to 60 months to life in prison.
He was extradited back to Nevada on Monday, and he is now in custody at the Washoe County Jail.
