The Fresno area lost some big-name restaurants in January, but plenty more have been popping up in recent days and weeks.
From Fresno to Lemoore, several new restaurants have opened, including two this week. They range from big chains — such as a Chipotle with a new high-tech drive-thru — to a local taqueria and the return of a familiar kebab spot.
Here’s a look at who’s opened recently.
New restaurants in Fresno areaChicomostok Mexican Food
Chicomostok is the taco truck that often parked near the Walmart at Ashlan and Blackstone avenues.
Now it’s got its own restaurant.
In January, Chicomostok moved to 224 W. Olive Ave., near Fruit Avenue.
Its known for its burritos, tacos, quesadillas, tortas, sopes and aguas frescas.
It’s open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily.

Lemoore will get its first Chipotle Thursday, March 5.
It will open at 10:45 a.m. at 223 W. Hanford Armona Road, near the Panda Express.
It will have a “Chipotlane,” what the restaurant calls its drive-thru.
Instead of a traditional drive-thru where customers would pick each ingredient in their burrito, a Chipotlane is a little different. It’s used only to pick up orders made online.
The Chipotle will be open from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The restaurant will employ about 30 people and is hiring at chipotle.com/careers.

Persian restaurant Kabob Land was in business for 30 years before it closed its Cedar and Nees avenues location in August.
After the six-month closure, it reopened Tuesday in its new location, inside the Retro Junction 76 station at the northeast corner of Herndon and Cedar avenues.
The restaurant is no longer doing dine-in service. But it’s still serving its popular dishes, including its beef koobideh mix, made with both ground beef and chicken.

Jersey Mike’s Subs in Reedley Jersey Mike’s Subs has opened a location in Reedley. Jersey Mike’s SPECIAL TO THE BEE
Reedley got its first Jersey Mike’s Subs on Feb. 11 at 1473 W. Manning Ave., near the river.
The sandwich shop serves all kinds of cold and hot subs.
It’s known for its #13 original Italian, made with provolone, ham, salami, pepperoni, prosciuttini (and Italian-style peppered ham made from pork leg) and cappacuolo (a traditional Italian dry-cured pork).
Jersey’s Mike’s is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Mad Duck and Ike’s at the Fresno Airport
Two new restaurants are now open to travelers at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
Mad Duck Craft Brewery has opened a location beyond the security checkpoint featuring its food and beer.
The business has four full-size locations elsewhere in Fresno and Clovis.
An Ike’s Love & Sandwiches has been open at the airport for a while, but celebrated with a ribbon cutting with Mayor Jerry Dyer last week.
