San Francisco police are investigating a fatal shooting in the city’s South of Market neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

The shooting was reported at 1:31 a.m. in the 100 block of Sixth Street, where officers responded and found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The person was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead there, police said.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.

The police department’s homicide detail is leading the investigation into the shooting but has not announced an arrest or shared any suspect details.
