FRESNO, Calif. – Colby Garland scored 26 points and Adrian Myers recorded 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (8-22, 3-16 MW) in a 82-68 loss to Fresno State (13-17, 7-12 MW) Tuesday night from the Save Mart Center.
Fresno State shot 57.1% (8-14) from three-point range in the first half to take a 45-34 lead into the locker room. The Spartans fought back and were able to cut the deficit to as few as five with 12:48 left to go. The Spartans struggled from the charity stripe, finishing the game just 47.4% (9-19) on free throws. Fresno State capitalized on the misses and regained momentum late, extending their lead to as many as 15 points in the closing minutes to secure the victory.
Garland has now scored 20 or more in nine straight games, the longest streak for a Spartan since Olivier Saint-Jean had a 14 game streak of 20-plus points in 1996-97
Garland has now scored 20 or more points 17 times this season and 20 times in his career
Garland shot 10-for-18 from the field and also collected three assists
This was Myers’ second double-double of the season and his career
Myers’ 16 rebounds was the most by a Spartan since Robert Vaihola grabbed 19 boards on March 8, 2025 against Fresno State
Melvin Bell Jr. reached double-figures with 10 points
Marcus Overstreet tallied four points, eight rebounds, two steals and a block off the bench
The Spartans outscored the Bulldogs 42-22 in points in the paint and 11-0 in points off turnovers
