SAN JOSE, Calif.–  This Week in San José State Athletics returns to catch you up on last week’s action and see what’s ahead for the Spartans, including a softball game on NBC Sports California on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. against Saint Mary’s!

 

Women’s Gymnastics

This Week: The Spartans will hit the road and compete against Air Force on Friday, March 6. 

Last Week: The Spartans hosted a quad meet on Sunday, March 1, where they finished third with a score of 195.925.

Softball 

This Week: The Spartans will host the Silicon Valley Classic II on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8. They will play in two doubleheaders against Santa Clara and Saint Mary’s, with the first game against Saint Mary’s being featured on NBC Sports California on Sunday.

Last Week: The Spartans participated in the Capital Classic in Sacramento and Davis, Calif.

Women’s Water Polo

This Week: The No. 17 Spartans will face No. 4 Cal on Saturday, March 7 at Spieker Aquatics Complex, before coming home and facing Pacific on Sunday, March 8. 

Last Week: The Spartans hosted No.1 Stanford and fell short 21-4 on Saturday, Feb. 28. On Sunday, March 1, they faced CSUMB and won 15-5.

Women’s Basketball 

This Week: On Tuesday, March 3, the Spartans will have their senior day before facing Colorado State, and then hit the road on Saturday, March 7, to participate in the Mountain West Tournament. 

Last Week: The Spartans fell short in both games against Nevada on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 49-41, and against GCU on Saturday, Feb. 28, 65-52.

Men’s Basketball

This Week: The Spartans will head on the road and face Fresno State on Tuesday, March 3, and then return home to take on Wyoming on Saturday, March 7. 

Last Week: On Tuesday, Feb. 24, the Spartans faced Air Force on the road and won 86-80. On Saturday, Feb. 28 the Spartans returned home and fell short against Colorado State, 85-73.

Baseball 

This Week: The Spartans will face Pacific on Tuesday, March 3 and then have a series over the weekend against Pittsburgh from Friday, March 6 through Sunday, March 8. 

Last Week: The Spartans faced Saint Mary’s in a four-game series starting from Thursday, Feb. 26, and finishing on March 1. In Thursday’s game, the Spartans fell short 5-4 in 13 innings; in Friday’s game, the Spartans fell 15-5. In Saturday’s game, the Spartans shut out Saint Mary’s 8-0 and in Sunday’s game, they came up short 13-4.

Women’s Tennis

This Week: The Spartans will face Santa Clara on Thursday, March 5, from the Spartan Tennis Complex. 

Last Week: The Spartans conducted a reverse sweep to come out on top in their match against UC Davis, winning, 4-3, on Thursday, Feb. 26. On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Spartans fell short against Cal Poly, 5-2.

Beach Volleyball

This Week: The Spartans will participate in the Hawai’i Tournament face in contests against Saint Mary’s and Pepperdine on Thursday, March 5, Chaminade on Friday, March 6, Concordia University Irvine and UNCW on Sunday. March 7. 

Last Week: On Friday, Feb. 27, the Spartans won against Pacific, 5-0, while facing a loss against Saint Mary’s, 3-2. On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Spartans defeated both their opponents, Santa Clara, 4-1, and Sacramento State, 3-2.
