SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) — Guilty verdicts have been reached in the trial of Shannon O’Connor, a Los Gatos mother accused of drunken sex parties involving teenagers.
O’Connor was convicted Wednesday of 48 counts, including two felony sex charges, for hosting parties for young teenagers where she bought alcohol and egged on sex acts, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
The verdict nearly concludes court proceedings that have been more than five years in the making.
“With the jury’s verdict today, there is now justice,” Santa Clara Co. District Attorney Jeff Rosen said.

Shannon O’Connor is now facing at least 30 years in prison and must register as a sex offender after a jury found her guilty of dozens of crimes involving Los Gatos teens.
Rosen says he is grateful for the bravery of the victims in this case.
“The defendant manipulated them and used them and then tried to get them not to talk,” Rosen said. “And these children and their families were resolute and overcame that. And it’s their resilience that led to this verdict.”
Prosecutors say O’Connor is charged with crimes back in 2021, but the teens testified their involvement with O’Connor dated back to 2019 – when some of them were as young as 11 years old.
During this time, the prosecution argued O’Connor’s actions and inactions were a gross departure from the way an ordinary careful person would act.
Parties were held at her home, local parks and even hotels.

The Los Gatos mom accused of throwing secret drunken sex parties for teenagers is back in the Bay Area. She arrived at the San Jose airport Tuesday.
The teens allege she hosted parties, at which she offered alcohol and encouraged them to perform sexual acts with each other.
Videos shown in court showed the teens drunk beyond comprehension, alcohol stocked in the fridge and O’Connor there present for it all.
After the verdict was read, parents in the courtroom told us that O’Connor is a child predator, a stalker, a harasser, a groomer, and it’s too late for sorry.
They’re relieved to hear the verdict and say she’s getting what she deserves adding: “you just don’t know who you’re having tea with at your own kitchen table.
The parents say they’re very thankful for the jurors.
O’Connor was found not guilty on just one claim, that she harmed a child in a way that was either life threatening or not likely to cause bodily harm, but guilty on counts related to all of the other charges.

The jury also said she was guilty of all charges involving furnishing alcohol to children and charges of dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, annoying or molesting a child and aiding and abetting sexual penetration between the underage teens – a felony.
O’Connor’s attorney Stephen Prekoski said O’Connor is crushed and disappointed by the verdict, especially after the felonies were a primary focus of the defense.
We asked him why was it so important for you to only focus on certain of the charges in defense? And what does that say, that they all ended up coming back in this case guilty?”
“Well, it says that I failed,” Prekoski said. “The reason why we effectively conceded the bulk of this case in the opening statement and only fought some counts in a very general sense is because we thought that we would lose credibility with the jurors if we tried to prevent presenting a defense that denied that my client provided alcohol.”
O’Connor waived jury for the aggravating factors, so the Judge will make the determination, which will ultimately lead to a sentence in this case.
The judge will make a ruling on the sentence on March 26.
