HGTV star Jasmine Roth says that she has had difficulty adjusting to her move from California to Utah, which was made “without a super solid reason.”
The star of “Help! I Wrecked My House,” which wrapped its fifth season in November, admitted that she has experienced some major changes since making the move more than a year ago.
Roth, 41, opened up about how her family has adapted to Park City after residing in Huntington Beach for over three decades.
“So first a little backstory. We moved to Park City full time 1.5 years ago. We lived for the previous 15 years in Huntington Beach. We’ve had a vacation home here since 2015, got married here in 2013, and my husband has been snowboarding here since he was a kid,” she explained.
Roth noted that while the move wasn’t spontaneous, it wasn’t exactly planned either.

She added, “So it’s not like we just picked up and moved, but at the same time, we basically just made a decision one day and moved. We didn’t have a super solid reason and when asked ‘why’ I give a different answer each time. Sometimes I say we like snowboarding (true!), sometimes I say we wanted a slower pace (also true!), and usually I just shrug and say ‘why not?’”
Roth, who shares children Hazel, 5, and Darla, 18 months, with spouse Brett Roth, noted that the move has had some challenges.
“It’s been a CHANGE and at times it’s been really hard. If you haven’t done it lately—moving is no joke! Add a preemie newborn and our careers on top of that and yeah, it’s been challenging, but I can also honestly say that we’ve also grown so much,” she said.
“Obviously the kids have literally grown, but Brett and I have changed too. I’m not sure if we both sorta knew it was time for the next phase or what, but we’ve transformed. A lot can change in 1.5 years and it has!”
The mom noted that it has been difficult for her and her husband to adapt to their new schedules following the move.
“We’re both still working full time but the minute we’re done working (and often before we’re done) our child care is up and it’s right into full parenting mode. When I first went back to work full time (and even before that) it was often overwhelming,” she said, while also sharing snaps of her family exploring new spots in Utah.
“The switch from 1 to 2 kids means you’re literally giving double the energy towards being parents and that took some time to get used to.”
Her reflection on their move comes mere months after she admitted that she is anxiously awaiting to hear whether her series will be renewed for a sixth season.

Her fears came months after HGTV pulled off a shocking programming purge that saw “Bargain Block,” “Married to Real Estate,” “Farmhouse Fixer,” “Izzy Does It,” “Christina on the Coast,” and “The Flipping El Moussas” coming to an end.
Speaking to the Daily Mail at the time, Roth noted that she isn’t entirely sure about the network’s future.
“We don’t [know if we’ve got a Season 6]. If you follow the news, you see that there’s a lot going on with HGTV and Warner Bros. Discovery right now,” she told the publication.
“If I get another opportunity to do that, whether it’s with this show or with another show, I’m here for it. I’m excited to see what 2026 brings and what HGTV looks like five, six months from now because I honestly don’t know what it’ll look like, but I hope to be a part of it,” she told the outlet.
She said she’s conscious of the fact that TV is always changing and that what viewers connect with is evolving each day.

“I do think that it’s clear to everyone, whether you’re in the entertainment industry or not, that the way that folks consume media and content is changing. And so it’s a matter of how we, as content creators, are going to keep up with that,” she added.
