JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) — Allegedly fueled by a cup of Jack Daniel’s, an elderly woman punched a police officer in the face as they attempted to arrest her, the Jupiter Police Department said.

According to the Jupiter Police Department, on Monday at about 9:52 p.m., police responded to the Jupiter Reef Club, where a caller said a woman was allegedly acting erratically and approaching his family. The 911 caller said he believed the woman was intoxicated or was possibly having a mental health issue.

The criminal complaint says that the man and his family followed her to her vehicle, she started her engine and told them to “get the f*** out of here.” The arrest report says the woman was going drive drunk, the 911 caller and his family called 911.

When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the woman identified as Eileen A. Hickey, 79, who was seated in the driver’s seat with the engine running. Officers say they also saw a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey on the front passenger-side floorboard.

The arrest report states the bottle appeared to be missing about a cup of alcohol. Officers wrote that while speaking with the woman, they smelled alcohol on her breath, observed bloodshot, glassy eyes, and said she repeatedly made statements such as, “I’m a member at the Reef Club” and “What are you doing?”

As officers tried to remove Hickey from her vehicle, the arrest report says, she actively resisted and began screaming she was a 79-year-old woman. As officers continued to try to remove her vehicle, the arrest report says, Hickey cock backed her right arm, balled her fist, and punched the Jupiter Police Department on the left side of her face.

Following the punch, Hickey was removed from her vehicle and was “tactically” escorted to the ground, where she was placed in handcuffs, the criminal complaint says.

The arrest report implies that when officers got into the patrol vehicle to transfer Hickey to the Jupiter Medical Center, the vehicle reeked of alcohol.

After she was medically cleared, she was booked on counts of battery of a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, resisting an officer with violence, and resisting an officer without violence.
