MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Oakland Police Department is releasing little information about a missing man found dead Thursday.
On Tuesday, a “Missing Person Local Alert” was issued for Steven Holcomb, 59. According to a Facebook post, Holcomb was last seen alive on Monday. He was captured on his front-door camera at 11:23 a.m. as he left his residence.

In a new post, the OPD said:
“Unfortunately, Mr. Holcomb has been located and is deceased. We would like to send our thanks to the community for all of the shares, comments, and concerns. We would also like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Holcomb. The Oakland Police Department takes this loss along with all of you, as many of our officers have spoken with Mr. Holcomb either at his workplace or outside his home.”
The police department also said Holcomb was a kind man who would always show officers the same respect they showed him.

OPD said the case would remain open due to the circumstances surrounding Holcomb’s discovery.
They have not said where Holcomb was found or the cause of his death. His SUV was recovered within the city limits of Oakland. A family posted on social media that the vehicle was found at a city park.
Hundreds of people responded to the police department’s post about Holcomb’s death.
“I do so much hope the family sees how much this community really loved Mr Holcomb he was a pillar of the community it seems almost everyone and every Walk of Life has had some kind of an encounter with this man,” said Jackie Gandy.
WREG reached out to OPD and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for more information, and we are waiting to hear back from them.
