Sacramento police are investigating a shooting Wednesday night and said a suspect remained barricaded inside a home as crisis negotiators worked to get them to surrender.

Officers responded just before 8:30 p.m. to the 2800 block of Grasslands Drive after receiving reports of a shooting, the department said.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was located at the scene, though police have not released details about his condition.

Police said the suspected shooter was believed to be inside a residence in the area. Crisis negotiators and armored vehicles were deployed as officers attempted to convince the suspect to surrender.

The area remained an active scene late Wednesday night as officers continued working to resolve the situation and gather more information about what led to the shooting.

No additional details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the incident were immediately available.
