This weekend, a community art market will take over the scenic Presidio Tunnel Tops, featuring a diverse range of BIPOC artists and creators. The market, called Community Arts Market (CAM), will make its debut this Saturday, October 25 through 26, from 10 am to 4 pm. You can expect vendors selling original artwork, handmade goods, and more.

The new market will feature 20 local artists, with live music, poetry, and spoken word performances. You can also expect food vendors and healing activations during the new market. The event is intended to uplift local artists and act as a community event to connect people with art and other San Franciscans. CAM is free and open to the public, and no ticket is required for entry.

The community event is the work of Arts.Co.Lab, a laboratory that encourages artist collaboration and community. They are also hosting a grant-writing program that focuses on helping artists navigate finding grants and writing proposals for projects.

The Presidio Tunnel Tops is one of San Francisco’s newer parks. It offers a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge and sits right next to the Main Parade Lawn in the Presidio. The park also has a playground for children and a “curiosity lab” called the Field Station. The Field Station is modeled after base camps that scientists use and includes maps, scientific specimens, artifacts, and more, intended for all ages. The Presidio often hosts community events, including regular history talks at Fort Point, guided nature walks, and upcoming Día de los Muertos and Diwali celebrations.
