So, this street artist in downtown L.A.’s Arts District turned an ordinary-looking utility box on the sidewalk into a tiny hidden theater you can open up and peek inside.

From the outside it just looks like a big gray box, but when you unlock it, the inside is decked out with red velvet walls, little framed pictures, and even a tiny stage vibe inspired by the classic Los Angeles Theatre. It’s basically like a miniature performance space that’s kind of magical to discover.

It’s called “The Electrical Box Theatre”…on Traction and Hewitt downtown…and since it was installed a few weeks ago, dozens of performers…poets, magicians, puppeteers, clowns, and more have reached out to use the space.

It’s become this quirky community spot where people can try out their art in public for the first time, continuing the Arts District’s tradition of creative, unexpected public art.

It’s tiny in the sense that there are no seats…but in another sense it’s enormous because all of outdoors is its audience.
