New Sacramento Republic GM Tim Holt
Sacramento Republic FC is gearing up for its 13th season, which will kick off this Saturday at Heart Health Park against FC Tulsa. It’s also working on building a new stadium in the downtown Railyards, which is set to open next year. All of this comes as Sacramento has a new executive leader in General Manager and President Tim Holt, whose history with the Indomitable Club dates back to its initial announcement back in 2012. Holt joins Insight to talk about his vision for Republic FC’s future.
Classical Pianist Anna Shelest
March is Women’s History Month and CapRadio’s Classical and Jazz Station (88.9 KXPR) is celebrating by featuring prominent female composers and performers who have made an impact on the Classical world. Today on Insight, Midday Classical Host Jennifer Reason introduces us to one such artist, Ukrainian-born pianist Anna Shelest.
Sacramento’s Hip Hop Open Mic ‘The Grid’
“Where culture connects.” That’s how the creative minds behind Sacramento’s hip-hop open mic describe their new project. The Grid happens the first Saturday of every month at the Digital Cafe inside the Nubian Family Marketplace. Performances range from some of Sacramento’s best known hip hop artists, to live painting exhibitions and community members picking up the mic for the first time, speaking their mind to a beat. The next hip hop open mic is this Saturday, March 7th from 2 to 4pm. Cam One, Jermaine Tilson aka j_crux and Flotivation created The Grid and joined us to talk about it.
