LARAMIE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Cowboys will close out the regular season with a trip to San Jose State on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Pokes will be looking to finish the season with their third straight win.
Wyoming heads into the contest with a 17-13 overall record and an 8-11 mark in conference play. Most recently, the team downed Nevada 83-73 on Tuesday.
The Pokes average 77 points per game and allow 72.8 per night, but have averaged just 70.6 points per game in conference play. The Pokes are grabbing 35.5 rebounds per game this season to rank sixth in the conference.
San Jose State, meanwhile is 8-22 overall and 3-16 in conference play after falling at Fresno State 82-68 on Tuesday. The Spartans average 71.2 points per game and allow 77.9 per night. SJSU shoots 43%, while allowing opponents to shoot at a blistering 49% clip.
Wyoming is led in scoring this season by Leland Walker’s 13.9 points per game. He also adds a team-high 3.5 assists per game, which ranks eighth in the conference. Naz Meyer adds 12.9 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Cowboys. And Khaden Bennett contributes 10.6 points per contest while leading the team in rebounding with 5.1 per night. Damarion Dennis adds 10.8 points per game while shooting 52% from the field.
The Spartans are led by Colby Garland, whose 20.1 points per game are among the best in the league. He shoots 50% from the field this season. Yaphet Moundi adds 12.5 points per game and leads his team with 7.6 rebounds. Jermaine Washington adds 11.1 points per game and leads the team with 49 3-pointers.
